Angeline Dickinson mostly known as Angie Dickinson, had a varied acting career, but is probably best remembered as Sgt Pepper Anderson in the 70s TV series Policewoman. Also her role later on in the film Dressed To Kill was another memorable role.
Angie's named changed when she married football star Gene Dickinson, that wasn't to last, she later married composer Burt Bacharach, they divorced in 1980 after nearly 15 years of marriage.
Angie Dickinson is rumored to have said "My mother was against me being an actress - until I introduced her to Frank Sinatra." Another interesting alleged quote was... "When I started shooting 'Police Woman', someone asked me if I had ever played a sleuth before. I said, 'Yes, many times.' I thought they were asking me if I had ever played a slut. I didn't know what a sleuth was."
Most people think that Angie Dickinson's show ' Police Woman' was the first TV series to feature a female cop in the lead role, however they'd be wrong, the first Police Woman show was screened in 1957, it was called ' Decoy' & starred Beverly Garland.
Angie Dickinson turned down the role of 'Krystle Carrington' on the 80s show 'Dynasty'. That role eventually went to actress Linda Evans.
