Karl Beattie started his television career as a camera assistant on the frantic live children's show Parallel 9, for the BBC. He trained as a cameraman at Visions, where he worked on such successful shows as Blind Date, Gladiators, TFI Friday, Robot Wars and the World Music Awards.

He was also involved in the production of a number of chart-topping music videos, including 'Frozen' by Madonna, Motown Mania, and tracks by Michael Jackson, Oasis, Paul McCartney, Sting, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Blur and Pulp.

He has worked on outside broadcasts at festivals such as Glastonbury and travelled worldwide as an intrepid cameraman across all genres; from sport to music, current affairs to light entertainment. Karl met Yvette on the BBC's City Hospital. There's was a whirlwind romance; getting engaged within six weeks and married six months later. They now have two children, William and Mary.

Outside of television, Karl's great passion is martial arts. He started training at the age of seven with the legendary Otsu Maeda Sensei. In 1994, he won the title of 'World Full Contact Champion' and holds an impressive record of 85 fights, with no defeats and 75 KO's. Alongside Yvette, he runs Antix Productions, the company behind Most Haunted. As well as producing, he cannot resist picking up a camera during the show, returning to his cameraman roots.
