James Daly, who co-starred as Dr. Paul Lochner, chief of staff, on Medical Center had a long career on Broadway and in movies and television. A native of Wisconsin Rapids, Daly attended the Universities of Wisconsin and Iowa, Carroll College and Cornell (Iowa) College before Navy service in World War II. A TV pioneer and veteran of more than 600 shows, he was a steady hand as the older doc working on those tumors in that doctor's series.
Daly died on july 3, 1978, in Nyack, N.Y., while en route to Connecticut to appear in the stage play Equus, his agent, Bill Haber, reported. Cause of death was a heat attack.
Daly, a native of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., began acting in 1946 and had more than 600 television credits, including such shows as Gunsmoke, The Fugitive, The FBI, Ironside, and Mission: Impossible. His films included The Court Martial of Billy Mitchell and Planet of the Apes.
