Detroit, Michigan was the place where Billy was born. He did a lot of daydreaming and made dreamlike voices and noises. Billy's mother and two brothers moved to Massachusetts in 1963 and he learned how to play the trumpet in Detroit and guitar in Boston. Over 17 years, he performed for different bands. He left the life of music and tried to do stand-up comedy in 1978.It was interesting, but it was the voice characterizations and impressions that caught his attention. He started to go to MIT's college radio station, WMBR. There, he recorded parts that he wrote and voiced all of the characters. On Saturday nights it played in Boston, but it was not a paying job. A friend got a tape Billy did into the hands of WBCN's morning man. He was invited to voice stuff and produce Big Mattress, a morning show. The job was for barely little money and he was on alcohol and drugs. He was so misbehaved, the program director, Oedipus banned him from the station when he was late. Luckily for him, there was a man who had a soft spot for artists and understood them. The man broke bands, like The Police and Talking Heads. In 1985, he left Boston for New York and Howard Stern and became sober. Billy found himself doing two roles(Doug and Stimpy) for Nickelodeon. He had left the Stern Show, because it didn’t have any real money. Today, he does many voices for cartoon characters.
