Heather Menzies, who played Jessica in Logan's Run on CBS-TV, was born in Toronto, Canada. She grew up in Vancouver, Miami, Long Beach (Calif.), London, Long Beach again, North Hollywood, Hollywood and Burbank. This itinerant childhood was due to her father, an artist with a gypsy spirit. Heather went to Hollywood High School but finished her schooling by correspondence because she was called to Broadway by David Merrick. She later attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California, for a year. An early ambition to be either a ballerina or an actress led to dancing lessons at the age of 11 and a children's acting workshop. At 14, this training paid off when she was selected to be one of the children in the motion picture The Sound of Music. She followed this with a running part in television's 'The Farmer's Daughter, a small part in the movie Hawaii, guest roles in many television series. She portrayed a television reporter in the 1977 television special "Tail Gunner Joe."
In the meantime she continued to study attending the workshop of Milton Katcellas. Married to actor Robert Urich until his death, Heather enjoys being the decorator for their home in Studio
City, Calif. Both the Urichs were avid gardeners and spent much time growing vegetables in
their backyard. Heather Menzies lists her hobbies as cooking, horseback riding, swimming, tennis and skiing.
