Tony McAnaney was born in the early 1960's in Sunderland. He was in various bands in the 1970's and 80's, one of these was Dance Class. He played bass in this band, alongside Dave Taggart and a guy called Gordon, and they even got a recording deal. When the Dance Class eventually split, McAnaney and Taggart formed, The Executives.
He is a lifelong friend of Jimmy Nail's, and McAnaney wrote Nail's 1994 hit, Crocodile Shoes, he also produced the album pf the same name. McAnaney is probably most remembered for his role in Jimmy Nail's Spender, which began airing in 1991 and McAnaney starred as Spender's MS suffering, guitar playing friend, Keith Moreland. McAnaney also wrote the theme tune and incidental music for the show. It ran for three series, and McAnaney appeared in no less than 11 (out of 21) episodes.
He is now known to be residing in Brighton.
