Drew Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975 in Culver City, California to actor John Drew Barrymore and model Ildiko Jaid Mako-Barrymore. Drew came from a family of talented actors and actresses. When she was just a baby, her mother took her to a large amount of auditions. At 11 months old, her first job was for a commercial for PuppyChoice dog food, and young Drew was even bit by a dog who was also starring in the commercial. After the commercial Drew starred in a few small time roles in commercials, and even a movie called Altered States; a movie about drug use, and Drew was just 5. It wasn't until Drew was seven that she shot to fame, when she won the role of Gertie in her god father's film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which even won an Academy Award. Five months after the release of E.T., Drew became the youngest person ever to host Saturday Night Live.

Once her daughter became famous, Ildiko Jaid began exploiting her daughter by taking her out to night clubs, including Studio 54 and ChinaClub. By age nine Drew began drinking alcohol, and when she was ten, she started drinking marijuana; snorting cocaine at twelve. When trying to throw her mother out of their estate, Drew was sent to a rehabilitation center where she overcame her addictions.

In 1992, Drew made a big comeback as an actress by starring in the erotic thriller/drama movie, Poison Ivy starring opposite fellow child-star Sara Gilbert. She got married to a bartender and owner of a bar named Jerry Thomas in March-April 1994. In the next few years, she would pose nude in five films, and on the cover of the January 1995 issue of Playboy Magazine, then becoming a sex symbol, star in films such as Bad Girls, Boys on the Side, Mad Love, Batman Forever, and shot to stardom by starring in the classic 1996 horror film, Scream.

From then on, she would star in comedies like The Wedding Singer, Never Been Kissed, Freddy Got Fingered, Duplex, 50 First Dates, and Duplex, dramas like Ever After, Riding in Cars With Boys, cult classic Donnie Darko, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, action flicks such as Charlie\'s Angels (and it's sequel).

Drew still continues to do well in Hollywood. On July 7, 2001, Drew married friend, and MTV comedian Tom Green, and they were married until October 15, 2002 when they got divorced. Barrymore received a star of the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on February 3, 2004, having her star placed next to the number of other talented actor and actresses in her family who previously achieved the star, receiving a Guinness World record for the most family members on the Walk of Fame. She also is an accomplished producer, and has her own production companies called Flower Films, which produced the majority of her most recent films.

Drew has more recently starred in films such as the children's animated movie, Curious George, based on the children books, and next year will star in films like Lucky You, a drama about a group of poker players, Music and Lyrics By, a romantic comedy about a musician who meets a song writer, and Grey Gardens.

Drew is still acting, and unlike most child stars, when Drew hit rock bottom, she didn't stay there. She made sure she got back to the top, and become one of Hollywood's most talented actresses.
