Charlotte Church is a Welsh soprano, best known for her performance on the album “Voice of an Angel.” Her stunning voice and appeal to her audiences helped her earn a million dollars by the age of fourteen. Church was signed to a record deal when she was just twelve years old, has released several albums, performed overseas, and appeared on numerous television shows both in America and the UK.
Church’s first big break came when she gave an impressive rendition of “Pie Jesu” after phoning in to
The Richard and Judy Show. She followed that with another local TV performance; this time on
The Big Big Talent Show. She would later go on to perform, among other places, at the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall. She and her vocal coach began to prepare for her debut album,
Voice of an Angel while she was still in school. Its release and following success made Charlotte the youngest singer to date with a number one album. She made several guest appearances on television shows after the release. The next year marked the release of her self-titled second album, which, like the first, contained many classical, traditional, and religious songs. Among these songs was “Just Wave Hello,” a popular Ford Motor company campaign. Charlotte released a Christmas-themed CD in 2000.
Charlotte, in 2001, added a bit of Broadway and pop into the mix with her album
Enchantment. That year, she also made an appearance on the soundtrack of the
Ron Howard film,
A Beautiful Mind. Prelude: The Best of Charlotte Church was released the next year. This collaboration of her greatest hits was the last CD she released of the classical-crossover genre.
Tissues and Issues, Charlotte’s first pop album, was released in 2005, and the album, along with the three singles, were met with success.
