A popular American actor with a long career, he began studying Law at the University of Oregon and became interested in theatre before graduation. His most notable role was playing George Hazard in the mini-series North and South and it's sequals. He met his wife, Wendy Kilbourne, while playing husband and wife in that series. They are still married and live in California with their son and daughter.
