Amy Adams

Amy Lou Adams is the daughter of Richard and Kathryn Adams. Born in Italy as a result of her father stationed there as a U.S. serviceman, Amy was raised in Castle Rock, Colorado. She grew up a Mormon along with six other siblings. Whilst attending Douglas County High School, where she sang in choir classes, Amy danced as an apprentice for a local dance company in hopes of one day becoming a ballerina. She also worked at The Gap as a greeter, as well as a hostess and waitress at Hooters. Later Amy would become a dancer at Country Dinner Playhouse and Boulder's Dinner Theatre, appearing in the "Brigadoon" and "A Chorus Line" productions. While working there she was spotted by a dinner-theater director from Minneapolis. As a result of this, Amy moved to Chanhassen, Minnesota and began working in regional dinner theatre.

Amy got her break into acting when recovering from a pulled muscle. The film Drop Dead Gorgeous, which was being filmed in Minnesota, was holding an audition to win a part in the movie. Winning the role as Leslie Miller, Amy got advice from Kirstie Alley to pursue an acting career. After moving to Los Angeles, she was given a role on what was to be a television series continuation of the movie Cruel Intentions. The series had many difficulties and never aired. As a result of several episodes already having been filmed, the footage was instead made into Cruel Intentions 2. Soon after Amy was making guest star appearances on many popular television shows, until 2002 when she played a major role in Catch Me If You Can. After a year without work she would return to television roles.

Amy would soon get the recognition she deserved when the independent film Junebug, released in 2005, got her an Academy Award nomination for "Best Supporting Actress." Her success continued when she was chosen for the part of Giselle in the the 2007 film Enchanted, a role that was auditioned by three-hundred other actresses. The film allowed her to use her dancing and singing talents, resulting in a Golden Globe Award nomination for "Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy." Amy is now a very well-known and sought-after actress, appearing in several films a year.

Amy Adams Quotes
I think that I've always been attracted to characters who are positive and come from a very innocent place. I think there's a lot of room for discovery in these characters and that's something I always have fun playing.
