Andrew Samuel 'Andy' Griffith was born to Carl and Geneva Griffith on June 1, 1926 in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He is best known for his role on The Andy Griffth Show where he played Sheriff Andy Taylor, alongside comedian Don Knotts, which aired for 8 seasons. He later went on to play Ben Matlock on Matlock. He's been married three times, and fathered three children, all whom he adopted. In the industry for 50 years, Griffith has earned himself a Grammy award (in 1997), a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (located on 6420 Hollywood Blvd.), and even has a statue in both his hometown of Mount Airy, and in Raleigh- North Carolina's capital city. |
