Chris was not exactly an overnight success, but he certainly hadn't spent years suffering for his art. A professional baseball prospect in his hometown of Manchester, the former Marine was offered a tryout with the Boston Red Sox. Nevertheless he wanted to play in Los Angele's sunshine, so he went to LA to bid for the Dodgers. He took a driving a guide bus at MGM while waiting for spring training. In short time, facing a camera became more appealing than facing an opposing pitcher. Chris traded his baseball coach for a drama coach. Shortly afterward, Stone nabbed the role of Nick, in a local production of "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" An agent saw him, signed him and took him to Rene Valenti, the head of new talent at Screen Gems (later Columbia Pictures TV). Six weeks later, Stone ran out into the street of 'Here Come the Brides.' Stone's relatively rapid success could be the result of a family background that contains no slouches. His mother was an award-winning artist. His father, a former baseball player with the ST Louis cardinals, was a successful state politician whom Chris admired above all. Stone accumulated a lot of TV experience that include starring roles in "The interns," "Spencer's Pilots," "The New Lassie;" guest starring parts in series like "The FBI," "Cannon," and feature films. Chris regretfully died after an illness.
