His parents were divorced. He and his siblings would live with one parents for a while, and switch, and so on.

Neil dislikes country music.

One of his favorite cartoons as a child was Bugs Bunny (Loony Tunes).

His brother Brian, who was Neil's favorite, died of cancer.

Made a documentary, called The Darker Side, which was about children with alcoholic parents. His Degrassi co-stars Rebecca Haines and Bill Parrott were in it, along with himself.

He used to think about suicide a lot, and wanted to die. "I didn't give a shit about living." -Neil.

He was engaged to Christina Boulard, but she broke that off in January 2001.
