played The Second Doctor [1966-1969] in Doctor Who
The second incarnation of the Doctor. Possibly due to post-regeneration shock and the fact it was the first time he had regenerated, the Second Doctor was initially enigmatic, often speaking of himself in the third-person and deliberately confounding his companions. He initially preferred overly broad disguises and seemed almost manic, but seemed to settle down. In contrast to his predecessor, he often disguised his intelligence with a buffoonish or childish exterior, playing music on a recorder and dancing a jig. However, this Doctor could be ruthless when necessary, engineering the destruction of the Dalek race or taunting mathematicians into opening the tombs of the Cybermen. His companions in order were Polly, Ben, Jamie MacCrimmon, Victoria Waterfield, and Zoe Harriet. |
