Thomas Edward Sizemore Jr. was born in Detroit, MI on November 29, 1961. As a child, Tom was an avid movie fan who idolised the tough guys he watched on the screen. After receiving his master's degree in theater from Temple University in 1986, Tom moved on to New York City to focus on making a name for himself. After working various jobs, Tom landed his big break in the Oliver Stone classic Born on the Fourth of July (1989), but bigger roles would soon follow and his career would fly high throughout most of the 1990s.

Even though Tom has now established himself as a highly capable actor, he has also earned a reputation for the darker side of his private life. His struggles with substance abuse and violent outbursts have put him in the spotlight many times, it has also landed him in jail and rehab. No matter his struggles, Tom is still one of the best and a favorite of Hollywood's greatest directors.
