Drew Carey

General Information (Drew Carey)

Mostly Credited As: Drew Carey
Birth Name: Drew Allison Carey
Date Of Birth: May 23, 1958
Country Of Birth: USA
Birth Place: Cleveland, Ohio

Drew Allison Carey was born on the twenty-third day of May in 1958. Carey was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. Unfortunately, Carey’s father died when Drew was just eight years old. Carey attended Rhodes High School, and then Kent State University. After college, Carey joined the Marines as a reserve and started a stand-up career as a comedian.

As a comedian, Carey appeared twice on the Johnny Carson Show (1991 & 1992), and apparently just once on the David Letterman show (1994). He appeared in several venues as a stand-up and acted in several guest starring roles before landing his starring role on 1994's NBC sitcom The Good Life. That NBC series lasted just thirteen episodes before getting canceled. Drew rebounded, though and landed a starring role in 1995 on ABC’s The Drew Carey Show, which lasted nine seasons (1995-2004). Three years after the start of that show, Carey started hosting an American version of the British improv. series Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
