Harrold Parrineau Jr. was born in 1968 in Brooklyn, New York. He studied music and theatre at the Shenandoah Conservatory, and studied on scholarship at the Alvin Ailey Company. Perrineau began his acting career in the theater. His plays include "Dreamgirls," "Avenue X," and the Off-Broadway revival of "Godspell". He had a small, but notable role "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions," He has also appeared in "Woman on Top," with Penelope Cruz, Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet," and "The Edge," with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. On television Perrineau starred on the show "Oz.", and now appears as Michael Dawson on ABC's LOST.
