Jeff Goldblum, movie and television actor, was born in Whittaker, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He is the son of a radio moderator and a physician, both of whom were interested in show-business. At the age of seventeen, Goldblum moved to New York City, where he worked on the stage and studied acting. At the Neighborhood Playhouse, his acting coach was Sanford Meissner. Jeff made his Broadway debut in Shakespeare's
The Two Gentlemen of Verona. An excellent jazz piano singer, Jeff at times was tempted to change careers. He persisted, however, and made his film debut as a thug in the 1974 movie with Charles Bronson,
Death Wish. He briefly appeared as a protester in the TV movie,
Colombo: a Case of Immunity (1975). During the 1970s, he also co-starred in a lighthearted detective-themed TV show called
Tenspeed and Gumshoe.
He teaches acting at Playhouse West in North Hollywood, together with Robert Carnegie. In a collaboration with actors in that acting company, he improvised and directed the live action short film,
Little Surprises. Their short-film was nominated for an Academy Award in 1996.
Goldblum is one of the founding members of a New York City theater company called The Fire Department.

Adam Resurrected, which is a film adaptation of the novel by Yoram Kaniuk, about a former professional clown who becomes the ringleader among a group of Holocaust survivors in an insane asylum, in post-World War II days.
