voiced Felix Faust in Justice League Unlimited
History: Felix Faust was a professor of archaeology with an interest in the mystic arts. He was eventually sacked from the University because of his heretical ideal and swore revenge on those who mocked him. Then, he embarked on a quest for ultimate knowledge which led him to Lord Hades, with whom he made a pact: Hades would grant him his wish, if Faust could free him from Tartarus. For that, Faust needed to find the fragments of a key that would unlock the gateway to the Underworld, which is located in Themyscira. So, Faust held Hippolyta and all Amazons hostage and coerced Wonder Woman into finding the fragments for him. Even though the League tried to stop him, Faust managed to open the gateway and free Hades, who betrayed his benefactor and transformed him into decrepit old man. When the League was fighting Hades, Faust mustered the strength enough to strike him, but Hades retaliated fiercely and knocked Faust out. When Wonder Woman destroyed the Key, it created a whirlwind that sucked everything in sight, including Faust, who was reduced to dust in the process.
A few years later, Tala collected Faust’s mortal remains and trapped his spirit in a mirror. Faust tricked her into performing a spell that freed him and trapped Tala in his stead. Then, he took control of the Annihilator and raided Tartarus, overthrowing Hades. However, these circumstances created an abnormality in the balance of the world, so Wonder Woman and Shayera were compelled to join forces with Hades to defeat Faust — and so they did. Faust’s soul is currently being tortured by Hades in Tartarus. |
