Tim Allen was born in Denver, Colorado on June 13, 1953. Tragedy struck his family early when his father was killed by a drunk driver, leaving Tim, his eight siblings, and his mother with great sorrow. At 13, Tim and his family moved to Birmingham, Michigan. In high school his favorite subject was shop. In 1975 he graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in television production. Three years later he was arrested on drug charges and spent two years in jail.
After his release from jail Tim decided to clean up his act. He entered a stand up comedy competition on a dare from his friend and won. He was soon appearing on TV specials and eventually landed his big break on the show Home Improvement. He continued to star in TV and movies and eventually even developed his own line of power tools.
