Casey Kasem

Casey Kasem was born on April 27, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. He is best known for being the voice actor of Shaggy Rogers in the Scooby Doo series however he also is a music historian and disc jockey. He was the host of the weekly American Top 40 radio program from 1970 to1988 he then came back from 1998 until January 10,2004 when he was succeeded by Ryan Seacrest. He has been married to the actress/singer Jean Kasem since 1980 and has had one kid with her whose name is Liberty Kasem. He had 3 kids with his former wife (whom he was married to from 1969 to 1979.) His son Mike Kasem is also a voice actor, and his daughter is the television host Kerri Kasem. As well as Shaggy, he was the voice actor of Robin in the original Batman series (1968) and the later SuperFriends series. He was the drummer on The Cattanooga Cats (1969), Alexander Cabot III from Josie and the Pussycats (1970, 1972), and he even was on television specials. In the 1980s he was a regular voice actor on Transformers however quit in the third season. He also walked out on his Shaggy role in 1985 when he was asked to voice Shaggy on a Burger King commericial. He didn't feel that he was appropriate for the character anymore considering that he was a vegetarian and felt that Shaggy and Scooby were bad role-models for kids who are already overeating. He returned to the role in 2002 when Warner Bros. agreed to portray Shaggy as a strict vegetarian.
