Detective Mike Logan was a hard-nosed, short-tempered detective working in the 27th Precinct. He was originally partnered with Sergeant Max Greevey until he was shot and killed after the 1st Season. His next partner was Sergeant Phil Cerreta until he was shot in the middle of Season 3. Although he didn't die, Cerreta was transfered to another Precinct in a desk job. Detective Lennie Briscoe was his final partner until Logan left in Season 5 after assaulting a Congressman. Logan was then transfered to Staten Island.

Detective Logan is back in Law & Order: Criminal Intent after his stint on Staten Island. He was partnered up with Detective Carolyn Barek during the 5th Season and is currently partnered with Detective Megan Wheeler. Detective Logan was given this new chance in New York by Captain James Deakins, who left at the end of the 5th Season. Under new Captain Danny Ross he was under a watchful eye as he knew of Logan's angry path. While Wheeler was in Europe undercover, he was partnered with Nola Falacci. Wheeler later came back, but faced Logan retiring at the end of Season 7.
