Caroline was born and brought up in London, the daughter of an Irish baronet (Sir Hercules Langrishe) and a Lloyd's underwriter.
She began her acting career in rep at the Bristol Old Vic, then appeared on stage in London and was first on screen in 1976. Her break in television came in The Flipside of Dominick Hyde
(1980). She has starred in a string of English shows (such as Lovejoy
and Judge John Deed
) and has also appeared in movies.
Caroline was married to the actor Patrick Drury
(divorced 1996) and has two daughters, Leonie and Rosalind.
