Her career in the entertainment field began in 1943 performing in plays off Broadway and bit parts on television. In 1951 she was spotted in a Clorets commercial by Jackie Gleason and was asked to join his troupe on "The Cavalcade of Stars" on the DuMont network. She soon was cast as Trixie in "The Honeymooners," a skit shown first on this series and then "The Jackie Gleason Show" and finally "The Honeymooners" series, which lasted just 39 episodes. |
