Kevin Nealon was born on November 18, 1953 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was raised in Bridgeport, and attended Central High School there, where he graduated in 1971. He went to Sacred Heart University, and graduated with a bachelor's degree.

After college, Nealon traveled the U.S. and Europe, then earned a living doing part-time jobs, such as bartending, while working on his stand-up comedy on the side. He appeared in several commercials and TV talk shows, including performing his stand-up routine on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1984. He joined the cast of Saturday Night Live with friend Dana Carvey in 1986, and stayed on for 9 years. He created several memorable characters on the show, and even anchored the news for Weekend Update for a while.

Nealon has appeared in several films, including Roxanne (1987), Happy Gilmore (1996), The Wedding Singer (1998) and Little Nicky (2000). He is currently a regular cast member on the series Weeds.

Nealon is married to actress Susan Yeagley and the couple lives in Los Angeles, California. He is active in the animal rights movement, and is a vegan.
