Richard Dick Winters was born in 1918. He joint the army in 1941. After his basic traning he was selected to the Army Officer Candiate School (OCS). There he meet his friend Lewis Nixon.
After OCS he volenteerd for the paratrooper. He became platoon leader of Company "E", of the 2nd Battalion, 506th.
After the jump on D-Day he was the new leader of E-Company of the 2nd Battalion 506th. First Lieutenant Thomas Meehan how had the lead on D-Day of E-company, died whenn his plane crashed trough Germany gun fire on D-Day. At approximately 1.15 A.M. of the 6 of June1944.
During operation Market Garden in Holland at September 1944 he's promoted to XO of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Unit. The 506th Parachute Infantry Unit was attached to the 101st Airborne Division.
Trough the war he had seen all of Europe (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Germany and Austria. He remained in Europe (Austria (zell am see)) until October/November 1945.

He served from 1941 till 1545 and again in 1950 till 1953.
Today he still lives in the United States of America.
