voiced Lucky in 101 Dalmatians: The Series
Lucky is the most adventurous of all the ninety-nine Dalmatian puppies that live with Roger and Anita Dearly, which is the primary reason that he tends to get into trouble more frequently than his brothers and sisters. However, his tendency to ignore the rules hasn’t hindered his reputation, as he is respected by many of his brothers and sisters, though there are a few members of his family who dislike him, as they find his arrogance to be bothersome. When he lived in the city, he mostly spent his time playing with Rolly and Cadpig, his two best friends amongst the rest of the Dalmatians, though life in the city permitted him to find an adventure on any day of the week. However, when the Dearlys moved to the countryside, Lucky found his adventurous and exciting life to have been wrongly taken away from him, though he soon grew to tolerate his new environment and he made some new friends, such as Spot, a chicken who has a strong desire to become a dog.
Lucky is most well known due to the fact that the only spots he has on his body form a horseshoe shape on his back, which is the reason that he was named as such. However, his name also came from the fact that he barely escaped death upon his birth, so we was lucky to be alive; though this was a feature only implemented in the movies, as in the original Dodie Smith book that the series was based off of, Cadpig was the lucky Dalmatian who had barely escaped death. However, Lucky does seem to actually be lucky, as he has proven to have good fortune throughout the series, despite the fact that his siblings don’t always believe in luck. Lucky is also considered to be Roger’s favorite of all the ninety-nine Dalmatian puppies and he often receives special treatment due to that fact, though Lucky has a tendency of taking such for granted and he adamantly opposes any attempts from his brothers and sisters to try to do anything that could threaten his unique position with Roger.
In his spare time, Lucky usually just spends time with his friends, whether it be watching his favorite television program, Thunderbolt, or taking a swim at the nearby pond, Hiccup Hole. Since he is still young, Lucky hasn’t been smitten with love too often, though he has fallen in love several times through the course of the series, such as his relationship with his biological sister, Two-Tone. However, there are many things on the Dearly Farm that Lucky doesn’t like, such as the fact that he has to participate in the Bark Brigade, where he often has to deal with the emotional rantings of Lieutenant Pug and the mocking of his more-talented brother, Tripod. Despite all of the problems he faces, Lucky attempts to remain vigilant and do his best throughout the course of the series, though he’ll have many lessons to learn before he fully understand just what he must do to be a good friend. |
