Brita Petersons was a contestant on the UPN reality show America's Next Top Model in cycle four. She was the first girl eliminated because the judges felt she was too old (25 at the time) and not thin enough to begin a successful modelling career.
Soon after her elimination from the show, Brita signed with Ford Models to model in their "Ford II" division. Since the show, Brita has also done fashion shows with Eisbar, has appeared on the cover of California Apparel News Lingerie magazine, had a swimsuit editorial in the August 2005 issue of Brentwood magazine and participated in a spread highlighting the resurrection of 60's fashion in Los Angeles Times magazine.
Brita got into modelling because her mother was also a model, although her family did not approve of her decision. Before America's Next Top Model, Brita had experience in printwork while she was in college, where she earned a degree in nutrition. At this time, she also worked as a waitress in La Cañada, California.
Coming from a strict European family, Brita cites she had a tough time growing up. She was forced to study every day as well as play the piano. Her family also spoke nothing but Latvian.
