Congressman and Senator from Tennessee who served two terms as Vice-President of the United States under Bill Clinton from 1993-2001. Was the Democratic nominee for President in 2000 but lost a close election to George W. Bush. Gore won a narrow victory in the popular vote but came up short in the Electoral College. Since leaving public office, Gore has become a strong champion for environmental issues such as global warming. He decided against running for President in both 2004 and 2008.
