Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. When she was young, she moved to Germany, where her father was helping out in the military. Afterwards, they settled down in Nashville, Tennessee. She first began her career at the young age of 7 as a model. She also appeared in a few commercials. Then at age 11, she got first place in a ten-state talent contest, but her breakout role did not come until 1991 when she starred in the movie Man on the Moon. She earned excellent reviews as a 14-year-old tomboy who falls in love. Afterwards, she got into bigger movies such as Jack the Bear and A Far Off Place. Then, in 1994, she graduated from high school and decided to put her acting plans on hold, deciding to go to Stanford University to major in English. Her plans changed again when she accepted roles in movies such as Fear, co-starring Mark Wahlberg, and Freeway, co-starring Kiefer Sutherland. Though those movies did not make her into an established actress, but it did make way for better roles in movies like Pleasantville with Tobey Maguire, Cruel Intentions with future husband Ryan Phillippe, and Election with Matthew Broderick. Her biggest role up to that point came in 2001 when she starred as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Reese followed this up with another big hit, Sweet Home Alabama. Both grossed over $100 million. Reese lived with her husband, Ryan Phillippe, and their two children, daughter Ava and son Deacon until their divorce.
