Audrey Faith Perry, know known as Faith Hill, was born in Jackson, Mississippi on September 21, 1967. At an early age Faith became interested in music, but didn't begin to pursue a career in music until after graduating from high school. In 1988, after moving to Nashville, Faith married music executive Dan Hill. In Nashville, Faith worked as a secretary for a music publishing company, where she was discovered after singing to herself while working.
Faith released her first album,
Take Me As I Am, in 1993. Due to strong singles "Wild One" and "Piece of my Heart", the album broke the top 100 and went triple platinum. Soon after the release of her album, Faith divorced husband Dan Hill.
It Matters to Me was released in 1995 and was an instant success and produced 5 hit singles with the title track hitting #1. Later that year, Faith began touring with fellow country star Tim McGraw and while on tour, Tim proposed to her. The pair got married in October of 1996 and have had three girls together since then.
The release of
Faith moved propelled Faith Hill into mainstream pop with the more pop-sounding album. However, the shift away from country music led Faith to lose some of her country fan base. In 2000,
Breathe was released, with a similar pop sound as her previous album had. The title track became the top played song of 2000 on pop radio and has become Faith's signature song. The album also won three Grammys for the album, including Best Country Album.
The 2002 release of
Cry was much anticipated and debuted at #1, but the singles failed to get as much airplay as her previous singles. Despite the lack of attention, the album won Faith another Grammy.
With the release of
Fireflies and hit single "Mississippi Girl", Faith was once again restored to country music fame. The album featured a duet with husband Tim McGraw, "Like We Never Loved At All", which won a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
In 2006, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will be reprising their much anticipated Soul II Soul tour from late April until Labor Day.
