In 1976, drummer Larry Mullen, Jr. would do something that would change the world forever. He posted a notice at his school, Mount Temple Comprehensive, calling for auditions to start a band. Four people responded--Paul Hewson, David Evans, Dik Evans and Adam Clayton. Keeping change from names like Feedback and The Hype, they soon got their big break. In 1978, they won a talent contest in Limerick, Ireland. They went with CBS Records and changed their name to U2. Dik soon left to join another band. Then Paul McGuinness became their manager.
