Born and raised in Mount Eliza, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia on December 27, 1981. Emilie began studying ballet at the age of nine, six years later she was accepted into the exclusive Australian Ballet School, where she performed in productions by the Australian Ballet Company. After only a year Emilie dropped out to study acting at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art, and with the Prime Time Actors Studio in Los Angeles.
