This Texan actor, the son of a Mexican-American mother and a Russian Jewish father, began playing regional theater during the 60's and had little exposure in television until he was cast as David Bedford, the son of Danny Thomas' character on the sitcom "The Practice". A westerner who never saw his first play until he joined the Navy and walked into a New York theater, thinking he was going to catch a movie, young Spielberg quickly became addicted. After Navy duty , David studied drama at the University of Texas for two years, then realized he had better get to work on the stage, any stage around the country or street country for that matter. Viewers witnessed another side of Spielberg in the TV movie "The Lindbergh Murder," in the role of attorney David Wilentz, for which he received good accolades. By 1976 he tackled heavy drama in PBS "Visions" where he was one of the leads in the episode "Two Brothers" by Conrad Bromberg.
