Franz Ferdinand is a British rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. The members of the band are Bob Hardy (bass), Alex Kapranos (lead singer, guitar), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards), and Paul Thompson (drums). The name for the band was inspired by a racehorse called The Archduke Ferdinand. Their first album, "Franz Ferdinand", was certified platinum in the U.S. thanks to the success of their first single, "Take Me Out". The single was a huge success and is used in many commercials. Their second album, "You Can Have It So Much Better" debuted at number eight on the U.S. Top Sales Charts and number one on the U.K. Top Sales Charts.
