With her husband, she was a member of the comedy team "Stiller & Meara" who had success for many years. She is the mother of actors Ben Stiller and Amy Stiller. Her daughter in law is actress Christine Taylor, who is married to her son Ben.
She Won an Obie Award in 1955 for the off-Broadway production Mädchen in Uniform. She received a Tony Award nomination in 1993. She was named "Queen of Brooklyn" at the 2000 Welcome Back to Brooklyn Festival. (Jerry was named King of Brooklyn at that time)
