She was the second choice to play Odda Mae Brown in the movie Ghost after Whoopi Goldberg thought she couldn't do it but Whoopi eventually got the role.
After getting tired of being a history teacher she started acting.
She has been married a few times.
Has one Son
In the late 80's dropped her last name a just went by Jackee' for a brief time. However as of late 2010 she is once again credited as Jackee
She won an emmy in 1987 for best supporting Actress in a comedy Series. That win also made her the First black person to win in that category
Her Ex-Husband Elgin is a hair dresser. Since their divorce they remain good friends and Jackee' sometimes goes to him to get her hair done.
