Born in June 1922, in Visalia, California, he joined the marines when he was 17 and participated in WWII. His ship was the U.S.S. Salt Lake City, which was going into Pearl Harbor as it was bombed. After months of not knowing what to do, his father got him a job painting Perce Westmore's house, and Perce liked the way he held a paint brush, and got him started in the movie make- up industry. Since then, he has done many renowned movies, like The Undefeated, The original Planet of the Apes trilogy, Shogun and many more.
