While filming "Gladiator", producer Dino De Laurentiis and Martha De Laurentiis visited Scott and asked if he would like to direct "Hannibal". Scott read the novel, was impressed by it, and eventually agreed to do it.
Believes "Gladiator", "Alien", and "Hannibal" are fine the original cut and won't need to put the deleted scenes back in for a better movie. So essentially his first cut of those films are his Director's Cut.
Unable to attend the New York premiere of "Hannibal" because her mom just passed away.
After several "A-list" directors passed on "Alien", the producers went to Ridley Scott and he accepted it. Scott only directed "The Dualist" before he work on "Alien".
