Neve was born in Paisley and grew up in Edinburgh. She trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow, then acted in rep at Perth and on the Island of Mull.

Her break came in Psychos (1999), soon followed by Gormenghast (2000).

She married cameraman Alex Sahle at Ayr in 1999, and they now live in London.

Wonderful World, a short film starring Neve McIntosh, won the Best British Film Award at the Kino Film Short Film Festival 1999.
