In 1983, Vocalist Anthony Kiedis, Bassist Michael Balzary(Flea), Guitarist Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons formed a formidable piece of musical brilliance that would span over 3 decades and would still be playing to sell-out crowds to this very day.
Originally called 'Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem' they formed for what was supposed to be a one off performance. Later that year, they found themselves with a record deal with EMI. They made their name by playing live gigs but their first few albums never caught the eye of the public quite like their future albums would. 'Red Hot Chili Peppers', 'Freaky Styley', ''The Uplift Mofo Party Plan' and all did relatively poorly compared to what the band would have hoped for.
In August 1989 the band released 'Mother's Milk', the album that would launch them into stardom. It went on to sell 1.5 million copies worldwide.
But bigger things were to come when they released 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik', in September
