Eva Marie Saint

Eva Marie Saint was born in New Jersey in 1924. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1946 and went straight into doing both radio and television dramas. Before moving into movies with less than a decade on screen, she’d already worked with legends Paul Newman, and Frank Sinatra. She’d also already achieved success on broadway with another legend, Lillian Gish, in ‘The Trip to Bountiful’.

When she made the move to the big screen she jumped straight into cinematic history with her Oscar Winning Performance with Marlon Brando in ‘On the Waterfront’. She showed an unprecedented ability for depth on screen, and caught the attention of Alfred Hitchcock who brought her on to play a seductive spy in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest.

Having two young children and a husband to take care of, she slowed her career down in the sixties. She took a few high profile projects, but mainly used television to keep work steady. She lived up to her nickname from before Hollywood, The Helen Hayes of television, straight through the early part of the current century. Her most recent work includes Superman Returns(2006) And the voice of Katara on The Legend of Korra (2012).

Eva Marie Saint Quotes
America is now obsessed with stars in an unhealthy way. They don't actually deserve this kind of attention. They're only actors... not scientists who are triumphing over cancer or doing something like that.
