Adam Rickitt is a British actor, musician, model, politician and charity fundraiser. He was born youngest of four brothers on the 29th May 1978 in Crewe, Cheshire, England. He had a brief career as a child model. He suffered with bulimia throughout his teenage years and has spoken out about how he feels male sufferers are often forgotten about.
In 1997, Adam's girlfriend at the time was showing his pictures to various showbusiness agents. He was about to be put into an upcoming boyband, when he auditioned for the part of Nick Tilsey in Coronation Street and successfully won the part (The character had previously been portrayed until then by Warren Jackson 1981-1996 and since then has been recast by Ben Price 2009-present). While playing the role he became famous for his six pack.
Two years on and in 1999, Adam left 'Coronation Street' for the first time to kick start his music career and signed a six album deal with Polydor. He released his first album 'Good Times' in that year and had chart success with single 'I Breathe Again' entering the chart at #5 and been certified platinum. However follow up singles failed to chart as well and he was quickly dropped by his record label after his album didn't even enter the top 40, charting at #41.
After appearing in a episode of daytime soap 'Doctors', Adam made a brief return to 'Coronation Street' in 2002 before returning full time in 2003. He was involved in his most controversial storyline at this point becoming part of the soap operas first gay kiss. When a new producer came to the show in 2004 he was part of a cast cull, which saw him and several other cast members sacked.
In 2005, Adam stood as a prospective parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party, he was ridiculed heavily by the press at this attempt at reinventing himself and stood down from his political career by 2007.
He appeared as a contestant in Channel 4's reality TV show 'The Games' in 2006 and Channel 5's 'Alive: Back to the Andes'. He also appeared in stage productions of 'Rent' 'Office Games' 'Final Judgement' and 'Telstar' as well as the 2006 Norwich panto 'Cinderella'.
He then moved to New Zealand in 2007 were he appeared in soap opera 'Shortland Street' in the role of Kieran Mitchell until 2010, when he was written out of the soap. His final episode playing the character aired in August 2010.
In 2010 upon returning to the UK, Adam made an appearance at London's G-A-Y club and announced he was making a musical comeback, however his new single failed to chart and after making a brief appearance as a guest political reporter on ITV's 'Daybreak' he has made sporadic appearances on various TV shows including guest presenting 'OK! TV' in 2011. Although his main job now is managing campaigns for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).
