Bear is the old man of the .hack group. He plays a father figure for Tsukasa and Mimiru throughout the series as this role play allows him to forget his mishaps as a father in the real world. Bear’s character in the game is a Heavy Blade class.
In the real world, Bear is a private investigator, and because of the events happening in “The World”, he uses his skills as a private investigator to dig up information on Tsukasa in the real world. He is the one who discovers the truth about Tsukasa. However, Bear also wanted to change the situation, and offers to adopt Tsukasa.
