Linda Hart was born in Dallas Texas. She started show business at a young age, appearing on television with her family on The Harts, a weekly gospel show.

Hart majored in theater at Los Angeles City College, but she didn’t stay to graduate because her family moved to Nashville where they were given a recording contract with Columbia Records. She later worked as an opening performance for many country singers, like Hank Williams, Jr., and The Oak Ridge Boys. She even sang in Bette Midler's backup group, called the Staggering Harlettes.

In 1987 she began performing on stage, in shows such as "Anything Goes", and "Hairspray". She has also had a television career, appearing on Touched by an Angel, and The Closer. Her film work includes Get Shorty (1995), Tin Cup (1996), The Insider (1999) and Beautiful (2002).

She is currently starring in the new FOX sitcom, The Winner.
