Trio Jennifer Nettles, Kristen Hall, and Kristian Bush assembled in the late 1990s and began to gain fame on bluegrass scene in the Atlanta area. In 2005, the band's music career took off with their release of the hit singles "Baby Girl" and "Something More". Their debut album, Twice The Speed of Life" went double platinum in 2005, and singles continue to be released from the album.
In January 2006, Kristen Hall left the group, wanting to stay home and be a songwriter. The remaining two members, Nettles and Bush, decided to stay together as Sugarland.
