Bobby Buntrock who played Harold Baxter, 8-year old favorite of Hazel (Shirley Booth) in the color television series Hazel, made his debut as an actor earlier than any other member of the cast.
At 4 years of age, Bobby became an actor, appearing with Bette Davis in a segment of Wagon Train. Since that time Bobby had done television shows with Jane Wyman, appeared on Mr Ed, Death Valley Days and several other top shows. Bobby was born in Denver, Aug 4. I952. When Bobby was 3 years old his parents Robert and Maxine Buntrock. moved to California where they were urged by neighbors to submit pictures of Bobby to studios.
The neighbors were so insistent — one of them even sent a photograph to their house—that the Buntrocks finally submitted, and sent the pictures to an agent. The agent auditioned Bobby and signed him as a client
Hazel was the first running part Bobby had played in a television series.
Mrs. Buntrock said that Bobby's talent seemed to be a natural one. He learned his lines quickly and seemed to have an understanding of the part of Harold which is not really unusual, inasmuch as he was actually playing a boy very much like himself.
Bobby attended classes with a tutor when working on the "Hazel" set, and when not working he attended the Lake Marie Public School in Whittier, where he lived.
By April 1974, Bobby perished in a car accident in Keystone, South Dakota at the age of 21.
