Jesse Tyler Ferguson is an American actor, and was born on October 22, 1975 in Missoula, Montana. Ferguson first began acting at age 8, participating in a local children's theater. He kept mainly to the stage through his teen and early adult years. Ferguson's first screen work occurred in the 2000 TV mini-series 'Sally Hemings: An American Scandal.' He appeared in a few more movies, but returned to his true love: the theater. In 2005, Ferguson originated the role of Leaf Coneybear in the play 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.' He has also performed in productions of 'The Merchant of Venice', 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'The Producers', and 'A Comedy of Errors.' In 2007, Ferguson booked a regular role on the short-lived, but well regarded CBS sitcom 'The Class.' 2009 brought Jesse Lee his most well known screen role, that of Mitchell Pritchett on ABC's 'Modern Family', which has been picked up for a fifth season.
