Actor Warren Beatty is her brother.

Is very good friends with the legendary danseur Mikhail Baryshnikov. They met on the set of "The Turning Point" and hit it off instantly, often talking about the practice of ballet. Baryshnikov herself personally asked him to host the documentary on his life: "The Dance and The Dancer."

She was born with very weak ankles, so her mother enrolled her in ballet (The Washington School of Ballet) at the age of three.

She was always tall, even as a child. In ballet class, she was the tallest one there. Whenever she performed ballet production with the school, she danced the male leading role.

She had always wanted to be a performer. And while her first childhood passion was classical ballet, she eventually gave it up as she was too tall at 5'7", she did not have "properly constructed feet" (high arches and high insteps), she found it too restricting and she wasn't good to do it professionally.

She was named after Shirley Temple.

She is a natural red-head.

She has red-hair and blue-eyes.

She played baseball on a team where all the other players were boys. She even held the record for most home-runs, earning the nickname "Powerhouse."

In high school, she was a cheerleader--as it helped with her dancing.
