Rue has been married six times. She has been married to her current husband since 1997, and has only had one child (with first husband, Tom Bish).
| Rue is a breast-cancer survivor. She presently does a lecture called "Aging Gracefully" for breast-cancer support groups.
| Was a Kappa Alpha Theta sister for the University of Tulsa.
| Appeared as her trade mark character, Blanche Devereaux, on four television series: Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Nurses and Golden Palace.
| She lives a vegan lifestyle and is a firm believer in animal rights.
| Released a book in 2007, My First Five Husbands...And the Ones Who Got Away.
| Rue was originally chosen to play the part of Rose Nylund on Golden Girls, however the production team felt that she was better suited for the part of Blanche Devereaux.
