Rue McClanahan

Rue was married six times. She married to her last husband in 1997.
She only had one child (with first husband, Tom Bish).
 
Rue was a breast-cancer survivor & did a lecture tour called "Aging Gracefully" for breast-cancer support groups.
 
Was a Kappa Alpha Theta sister for the University of Tulsa.
 
Appeared as her trade mark character, Blanche Devereaux, on four television series: Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Nurses and Golden Palace.
 
She lived a vegan lifestyle and like her Golden Girls co-star, was a firm believer in animal rights.
 
Released a book in 2007, My First Five Husbands...And the Ones Who Got Away.
 
Rue was originally chosen to play the part of Rose Nylund on Golden Girls, however the production team felt that she was better suited for the part of Blanche Devereaux.
